Care and Maintenance

The metal we use is untreated, non-galvanized brass - an alloy of copper & zinc. It will tarnish over time (as the final product is not electroplated) but can be easily cleaned with either anti-tarnish solutions or use of vinegar, lime or tamarind. We use our in-house bio-enzyme. 

We do believe that the beauty of every piece of Chicory Chai jewelry is as much in its newness as in its aging. With a passage of time, jewelry naturally develops a characteristic old-world-charm. We love that the most! When not in use, jewelry must be wrapped in fine cotton and placed in an enclosed box. 

(Fun fact: Your makeup and/or perfumes will not have any adverse effect on Chicory Chai jewelry, unless the piece has certain gem stones!)

Special care needs to be taken for the following kind of jewelry:

1. Jewelry that has oxidized elements as a ‘design’ feature should not be cleaned with the anti-tarnish solution.

2. Gemstones like emerald, turquoise, opals, pearls, tourmalines need professional cleaning as they may lose color due to harsh chemicals or direct heat.

3. Jewelry with enamel needs to be handled gently.

4. Special techniques like inlay of semi-precious stones in marble or wood
